Last time out
The first time we played Reading was in the Continental cup was back in November last season! I remember it well because it was my birthday, and I was hoping for a birthday win! Unfortunately, it didn’t end the way we all hoped it would have ended, Reading walked home with a 3-0 win and bagged the points in the group. This match took us a while to really get and settle into, and even then, I don’t think we really got into it, it was our very first time up against real Super League opposition, and I have to say it, it truly was a real hard test!
The Royals went 2-0 up within the first 38 minutes of the match though goals from Troelsgaard, on 5 minutes and also Wade in the 38th minute. Reading was really showing their experience in this match, and we didn’t see much of the ball, although in the second half we did try attacking a little more. The Royals put it properly to bed in the 60th minute when Vanhaevermaet took the scoreline to 3-0.
One of the best things that happened from this match was the fact that we were able to see Sophia Pharoah back on the pitch after a long sideline stint due to an injury.
The last time we played them was in the league this season after thier relegation from the WSL was in Septemeber in the league, and what a game this turned out to be!
We threw everything on the table with 90 minutes of slick and beautiful team worked football, ending with four goals on the scoresheet. Our connection in passing and also our build up play was spectacular this match. Not only that, there was four different scores being Molly Pike, Katie Wilkinson, Atlanta Primus and also Jemma Purfield!
Looking ahead
Looking ahead to the match and Reading have had, what you can call, a shaky start to the season. So far this season, they’ve lost 4 matches, drew 2 and have only won 2! One of those losses came thanks to the Saints, after we beat them 4-1 on their home turf back in September, with a spectacular display of football! What a game that was I must say, can we do it again this Wednesday and claim those 3 points? Let’s hope so!
Readings first match within the conti cup was against WSL side, Tottenham. This match ended in a one sided goal fest, after Spurs put 6 goals away, with Reading not being able to score.
I believe we’re in for a cracking night of football on Wednesday, hopefully another goal fest but one that goes in the favour of the mighty Saints!! Safe travels to you all, see you all Wednesday & COME IN YOU REDS❤️
