Welcome to Southampton Chloe
Saints have completed the loan signing of midfield player, Chloe Peplow during the winter transfer window. The 24 year old midfielder joins us on loan after her previous loan was terminated early by mutual agreement. An exciting new prospect joining our ranks and bolstering our already strong midfield for the rest of the season.
Who is Chloe Pelplow?
Chloe Peplow is a 24 year old midfielder who played for Womens Super League side Reading, previously loaned to championship side Crystal Palace. She’s played 7 matches and 362 minutes with Palace this season while also picking up 2 yellow cards. Before she was loaned out to Crystal Palace she played at Reading, her time at Reading saw her play 13 league matches. Pre Reading times she was at WSL side Tottenham Hotspur where she spent 2 seasons, over those 2 seasons she collectively played a total of 16 matches totalling in 978 minutes of playing time.
Chloe played for Brighton in the championship in the 2017/18 season where she played 16 matches, scored one goal and picked up 1033 minutes. Brighton applied to join the restructured WSL league and was approved in the 2018/19 season, in the first season in the WSL they only won 4 games out of a total of 20 but managed to keep themselves 19 points clear from relegation, Chloe played 16 of these matches minutes. She started her playing career at Birmingham at 16 where they finished runner up in the FA Cup and WSL Cup.
Chloe has been described as a defensive midfielder who is kind of a ubiquitous steering wheel that reaches both areas and has absurd disarming power, which I think will be a great pairing for the likes of Alice, Leeta and Lucia in midfield. She’s quiet but a very intelligent player, she plays direct football and is known to be a ‘midfield beast’ previously dominating the midfield against a strong London City Lionesses side. She’s said to be a really fantastic player although has picked up a few injuries over her time.
Reading that brief description of Chloe gets me excited to see what she will bring to our saints side, with experience in all the tiers from National League all the way up to the Womens Super League which is the level we are aiming to be at. The experience she has will allow our young side to draw from. A new voice and personality is being bought to the team along with Beth, which will add something to our already impressive squad. She also brings some more much needed height into the team. The club definitely know what they’re doing and wouldn’t bring someone to the club who doesn’t fit our aims and culture, which is great!
We welcome Chloe to the mighty Saints and we look forward to seeing her talent and play in upcoming matches and this weekend against her old team, looking forward to it!
