The Saints Women travel North for a pre-season friendly away to Nottingham Forest

Saints travel away to Grange Park this Sunday for their pre-season friendly against Nottingham Forest. The match will kick off at 2pm and fans will be allowed in attendance, so it will be amazing to see some familiar faces, as well as new, to cheer the girls on in their first friendly.

We can't wait to see the girls back in action and see those new players out on the pitch!

Looking ahead

Nottingham Forest play in the Northern Premier division, Tier 3, of the football pyramid, the tier Saints got promoted from last season. Forest won their respective league after a competitive season, unfortunately they had to play in that dreaded play off final (which how now been scrapped for this season onwards, seeing two up and two down) which saw them come runners up to Southern Premier winners Watford.

Last season, Forest won a total of 17 games out of the 22 that was played, scoring a total of a staggering 81 goals and only conceding 18! That’s massive!

Forest have recently moved into a new ground after spending 4 years at the Halbrooke Stadium, could a new home bring new luck?

Overall

It’s going to be good to see the girls back in action, it’s been 3 months since the last game of last season and it’s been too long. I’m looking forward to seeing our new signing play for the first time in a Saints shirt and figuring out new partnerships and link ups that may form as the season rolls out, I can see a Wilko & Rianna Dean link blossoming to and I’m so ready for it!

The ground can be found

The ground is just a short walk from Long Eaton centre with it's bars, pubs and places to eat. It is also about 5-10 mins walk from the train station. There is plenty of parking at the ground for those that want to travel by car (Long Eaton is close to the M1/A50 junction..
