Tonight, Saints welcome WSL opposition, Tottenham Hotspur, to the Silverlake Stadium in Eastleigh. The match will kick off at 7:45pm and conclude the group stages of the Continental Cup! If Saints end the match victorious, it could mean there is a chance they could get out the group stage and go into the quarters, which is decided by ranking of second place teams! Fingers crossed that happens! This is a huge match, and it would be so great to get a lot of fans into the stadium to cheer our girls onto a hopeful victory! See you there!

Last time out
The last time we played Spurs was back in December 2022, where the rain would not stop pouring. Again, this match was during the Continental Cup and unfortunately, we fell to defeat, but what a performance these girls put in their first big WSL test.
From what I remember of this match, we were pretty even when it came to matching up to Spurs, we created a fair few good chances, a notable one being Ella Morris’s cross that met Beth Lumsden which unfortunately didn’t hit the net! The team were very unfortunate to concede in the 26th minute after Karzewska broke the deadlock and took Spurs ahead. I can remember that the girls gave it their all, they were showing that they really wanted this game and were constantly pushing to look for that leveller. Our defence were doing an absolute sterling job keeping spurs out from scoring any more too.
Looking ahead
Tottenham have played three matches in this cup so far and that was against Arsenal, Bristol and Readin! Spurs first went out all guns blazing when they played Reading, they beat them 6-0 with all different Goalscorers being on the sheet! Next up they played Bristol, which again they beat them 3-0 with Rosella Ayane bagging two of those goals. The last match they played in the cup was against Arsenal, this match ran out as a 3-3 draw and had to go to penalties, Arsenal took the extra point.
Saints are currently third in our group after playing 3 matches, Bristol City to which we took it to penalties and bagged that extra point, Reading where we walked away 1 nil winner and with the 3 points and also Arsenal where we took them to the death, with them getting the winning goal in the dying minutes. We have 5 points in the group so far!
Another test will be awaiting the girls tomorrow with Spurs having some top-class players, those of which are Beth England, Grace Clinton, Martha Thomas (who is fourth top goalscorer in the WSL currently)! I’m excited to see the girls play Spurs and to see how far they’ve come since playing them in the cup back in 2022!
COME ON YOU REDS❤️🤍
