Saints have completed the permanent signing of goalkeeper, Benedicte Haaland during the Winter transfer window. The 25-year-old keeper joins us from Bristol City. Another exciting new edition and prospect joining our squad and bolstering our already very strong goalkeeping union. Looking forward to seeing her play for Saints!
Who is Benedicte Haaland?
Benedicte is a 25-year-old goalkeeper who formerly played for Bristol City. The Norwegian keeper international football for Norway, picking up 7 caps within the U17 & 19 squads. She has played for countless clubs since playing professional football at the age of 17, in which she played for a team called Arna-Bjørna, where she spent 3 seasons and made 5 appearances before moving on to Sandviken where she made 5 appearances also.
After 5 years in topflight football in Norway, Benedicte then made her way to football within the Swiss league where she spent 1 season with Swiss WSL team, Lugano! During her season at Lugano, she made 3 total appearances before making her move away to the Womens Super League in England. In the 2020/21 WSL season she played for a team we know very well, Bristol City, she made 2 appearances for them before heading back over the water again.
Straight off the back of the end of the WSL season, she spent half a season with Icelandic side, Selfloss before moving onto Hellas Verona for the second half of the 2020/21 season, she made 10 appearances for this side. Following the end to that league she moved to the Scottish Womens Premier League where she made 31 appearances for Hibernian, to whom she helped lift the Capital Cup, after saving a penalty in the final, amazing!
She went back to Bristol City before joining the mighty Saints today and us fans look forward to seeing her amongst the squad on match days!
