Last time out
The last time we played Palace was at their place, back in November and what a game and goal fest that match turned out to be! A true contest and a true battle throughout and ending with 7 goals, Saints coming out victorious and collecting those 3 points.
In the first half, we come out very very bright and positive, there was some really nice dominant football from the Saints with slick one touch passing! Not only that but we were also looking very fast with our play, making it difficult for Palace to hammer us down! In my opinion we were the lot better side in the first half, and it was a very exciting match of football.
When the teams came out in the second half it started out pretty even, there were a lot of good chances coming from both sides! Another thing to take note is that their Keeper loves to take a risk with being extremely off her line! The match ended 4-3 to us and I think with the depth and strength that the girls showed during this match it makes it up to be one of my favourite performances of the season, so far!
If the last match we played against them is anything to go by, we are in for a very exciting match tomorrow!
Looking ahead
We head into the match on Sunday with Saints are sitting in 3rd place in the table with 27 points, Palace 5th with 24 points, just 3 points behind us. We come of the back of a brilliant but nervy performance, with some excellent football against Sheffield United in which we won 1-0. Hopefully, the momentum from that win is what will push us on to fight for another 3 points on Sunday, hopefully get another good few goals, and remain heavily in the promotion battle.
Crystal Palace have had a fairly strong season so far, what I mean by that is they’ve won 7, lost 3 and drew 3, so they are on pretty good form as of late. Palace have picked up 4 out of the 7 wins away from home too. They have also scored a very impressive 37 goals but also conceded 16, which just goes to show they are very susceptible to letting one in, they’ve only conceded 6 of the 16 away from home too.
Sunday is most definitely going to be a tough test and a hard-fought challenge; we know how physical and strong that the Palace squad are as we’ve seen it before. We can really be prepared for a bustle between the teams. We just need to play our game because when we play our game; we’re slick, fast, skilful and hard to break down.
I’m looking forward to the match on Sunday, let’s bring the noise and support the mighty red and white! COME IN YOU REDS!
